We are a growing structural and civil engineering consultancy seeking a commercially minded Business Development Executive to help generate new opportunities and support work-winning activity across London, the South East and selected wider UK opportunities.
This is a practical, office-based role suited to someone who can research target organisations and projects, identify decision-makers, carry out first-contact outreach, maintain follow-up, and help convert early conversations into qualified meetings and live opportunities.
You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strategic relationships, and supporting growth in the construction, property and engineering sectors. You will work closely with the directors, project teams and management to help identify suitable opportunities, support proposal development, and ensure early-stage client conversations are followed up properly. Your ability to connect with clients, understand market activity, research planning-led opportunities and position the company effectively will be key to expanding the business.
A key part of the role will be researching local authority planning portals, council planning applications and related market sources to identify new developments, planning applications, refurbishments, estate-related works, commercial property activity, residential development opportunities and potential B2B targets that may require structural or civil engineering input.
This is a part-time business development and work-winning support role focused on consistent pipeline-building activity. The role is suitable for someone who is proactive, commercially aware and motivated by performance-based commission.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, research and track new business opportunities across agreed sectors
- Research B2B target organisations, decision-makers and commercial contacts
- Use local authority planning portals, council planning applications and related public information sources to identify relevant developments, planning applications, refurbishments, estate works and project triggers
- Build and maintain prospect lists across agreed sectors
- Carry out first-contact outreach by phone, email and LinkedIn
- Book qualified meetings for the directors and senior team
- Build and maintain professional relationships with prospects, clients, stakeholders and industry contacts
- Leverage relevant networks and market research to generate opportunities
- Maintain accurate CRM records, call notes, pipeline updates and follow-up actions
- Support proposal follow-up, capability statement sending and light bid/portal/PQQ coordination where required
- Conduct market research to stay up to date with relevant industry activity, competitor activity and project opportunities
- Work closely with directors and project teams to support proposals that meet client needs and align with company objectives
- Provide weekly progress updates on meetings, leads, planning-led targets and pipeline activity
